Country R&B blends country songwriting with smooth soul-based melodic shape, gospel warmth, and contemporary R&B groove. The rhythm section is usually more elastic and bass-forward than mainstream country, while the vocal phrasing emphasizes runs, breath, and emotional shimmer.

History

Earlier overlaps came through country-soul and crossover performers such as Arthur Alexander or Ray Charles, but the contemporary lane became visible when artists like Kane Brown, Mickey Guyton, BRELAND, and The War and Treaty brought Black vocal traditions and R&B textures back toward country's center. The style now operates both as revival and innovation, reminding the genre of histories it sometimes pretended not to hear.
