Country jam band stretches country and roots songs into longer improvisational performances, often with twin guitars, fiddle, keyboards, and rhythm sections comfortable with vamps and extended solos. The feel is communal, road-seasoned, and happily unhurried.
History
The Marshall Tucker Band and New Riders of the Purple Sage were early bridges between country and jam-friendly rock contexts. Later, groups around roots festivals and Americana circuits expanded the idea, showing that country songs can wander without getting lost—well, not too lost.
