Country-folk is built on acoustic guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, and occasional pedal steel, but it carries them with the restraint of a folk club rather than the punch of radio country.
History
The style came into focus wherever country repertory met the postwar folk circuit: old-time songs and Carter Family models supplied the bones, and the folk revival taught audiences to hear acoustic storytelling as serious art.
