History
The style descends from late-1980s house-pop and Euro club singles, when acts such as Black Box, Snap!, Technotronic, and C+C Music Factory proved that dance records could dominate mainstream radio. In the 2000s, Ibiza vocal house, French crossover dance, and European radio dance built the bridge to the EDM-pop explosion, where David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Avicii, Tiësto, and Swedish House Mafia turned festival drops into global pop grammar.
