Coffeehouse Pop

Warm, unhurried acoustic pop tailor-made for cafe playlists: soft fingerpicking, brushed drums, gentle harmonies and an easy, sun-dappled mood. Lyrics lean toward love, contentment and small comforts rather than crisis. Melodically pretty and dynamically flat by design, it's the sound of music meant to soothe a room, not command it.
History
Named for the cafe-circuit aesthetic that fed early-2000s acoustic radio, it was codified by Starbucks' Hear Music and 'now playing' playlist culture. Jack Johnson, Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz supplied its template of laid-back, beach-and-cafe acoustic pop, later folded into Spotify's 'Acoustic Coffee' and 'Coffeehouse' playlist economy that keeps the style commercially alive.
