Classic Boom-Bap

Classic boom-bap is crisp, drum-forward, sample-heavy rap with unmistakable kick-snare "boom-bap" swing and clear MC enunciation. It sounds like breakbeats put in hard-soled shoes.
History
The sound flourished as producers refined SP-1200 and MPC-era sampling into a durable studio language. Rakim, KRS-One, EPMD, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, and their peers collectively established the rhythmic and lyrical foundation later generations treated as canonical hip-hop form.
