Church House developed from New York/New Jersey garage, Chicago house, gospel, and soulful house. Jasper Street Co., Kenny Bobien, Dawn Tallman, Michelle Weeks, Ann Nesby, Sounds of Blackness, Blaze, Masters at Work, Louie Vega, Barbara Tucker, Byron Stingily, and Dennis Ferrer made gospel-inflected house a recurring club language. It remains a key sound in soulful-house events, Pride/community dance spaces, and spiritual house playlists.
