History

Rich Mullins moved CCM toward literate storytelling on 1993's 'A Liturgy, A Legacy and a Ragamuffin Band' with dulcimer-led narratives like 'The Color Green' and 'Hold Me Jesus' before his 1997 death. Andrew Peterson carried that 'permission to tell stories' into folk-Americana, while Jars of Clay, Caedmon's Call, and Sara Groves brought literary lyricism to Christian rock across the 1990s and 2000s.
