History
The style came from Chicago's second wave after the original 1980s house explosion, especially Cajual, Relief, Classic, and related labels. DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Cajmere, Green Velvet, Paul Johnson, Gemini, Boo Williams, Mark Farina, DJ Heather, Stacy Kidd, Glenn Underground, and Gene Farris turned sample-heavy, funky house into a global DJ language. Its influence runs through French touch, filter house, funky house, and modern jackin' house.
