Café Electronica
Located in 1 route
Café Electronica is downtempo electronic music designed for social rooms: cafes, lounges, hotel bars, boutiques, sunset terraces, and dinner-hour DJ sets. It usually combines soft breakbeats, bossa, dub, jazz chords, Rhodes, French touch, trip-hop, and lightly global percussion. The music is polished enough for public spaces but still relaxed, making groove and atmosphere more important than club pressure.
History
The sound emerged from 1990s lounge revival, trip-hop, acid jazz, chillout compilations, Cafe del Mar culture, and labels that packaged downtempo as a cosmopolitan listening environment. Air, Thievery Corporation, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Tosca, St Germain, Zero 7, Nightmares on Wax, Bonobo, Jose Padilla, Boozoo Bajou, Mo' Horizons, Jazzanova, The Dining Rooms, Nicola Conte, and De-Phazz gave the style its cafe-friendly mix of electronics, jazz, dub, and global cool.
