History
As funk carioca moved from Rio's favelas into national and global pop through the 2010s, artists translated it into mainstream hits: Anitta led the crossover, her 'Show das Poderosas' (2013) launching a superstar career that later took Brazilian funk-pop to the global charts, while Ludmilla, Kevinho and MC Fioti scored massive singles. Producers polished the tamborzão and paired it with pop and reggaeton, and drag star Pabllo Vittar and Luísa Sonza extended the lane. Brazilian funk-pop is now one of the country's dominant commercial sounds and a key vehicle for its international pop breakthrough.
