New Orleans party rap built on the looped 'Triggerman' beat sampled from the Showboys' 'Drag Rap': a high arpeggio ostinato, marching snares, and relentless call-and-response chants directing the crowd. Hypersexual, ward-shouting, and percussive, bounce is dance-floor instruction set to a single hypnotic loop, frenetic and communal.

History

Originated in New Orleans housing projects in 1991 with MC T. Tucker and DJ Irv's 'Where Dey At,' which looped the Triggerman beat. DJ Jubilee, Partners-N-Crime, and Magnolia Shorty codified the call-out style through the 90s. Sissy bounce pioneers like Katey Red and Big Freedia later carried it national in the 2010s.
