Bmore Breaks is the breakbeat core of Baltimore club: hard loops from "Think," "Sing Sing," "Is It All Over My Face," and other drum records, chopped into tools for DJs and dancers. Compared with full Baltimore club songs, Bmore Breaks can be more skeletal and utilitarian, emphasizing drum pressure, vocal stabs, and quick-turn edits. It is the rhythm kit that later scenes sampled, copied, and reprogrammed.

History

The style grew as Baltimore DJs stripped house and hip-hop records down to the sections that worked hardest in local clubs. Labels and producers around Scottie B, Unruly Records, DJ Technics, Rod Lee, KW Griff, DJ Booman, Miss Tony, and K-Swift turned those loops into a regional language and a crate of usable DJ weapons. When Baltimore club influenced Jersey, Philly, UK funky, global bass, and EDM edits, the Bmore breaks themselves often traveled farther than the original song structures.
