Blues-Rock Revival is the late-20th- and 21st-century return to big-riff British blues-rock after punk, new wave, and indie had pushed that language out of the center. The sound revives sustaining lead guitar, muscular trio or quartet grooves, and classic-era blues-rock songcraft, but with cleaner production and festival-era professionalism.
History
Gary Moore’s commercial success at the turn of the 1990s helped prove there was still an audience for guitar-led blues-rock with clear British lineage. Later acts such as Joanne Shaw Taylor, Matt Schofield, Danny Bryant, King King, and Aynsley Lister refreshed the tradition for club and festival circuits without pretending to be archival reenactors. This revival has been less about one single scene than about a durable touring network and a continuing hunger for loud, articulate, blues-based guitar music.
