History

Blues revival first surged through 1960s folk festivals and British/American rock interest, then returned with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Cray, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bonnie Raitt's comeback, young guitar players and later indie blues duos. More recent revivalists such as Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Jontavious Willis and Cedric Burnside connect lineage to living community rather than nostalgia alone. Each wave changes what listeners think "authentic blues" means.
