Heavy, soulful jamming built on a blues spine: slide guitar, gritty Hammond organ, big dynamic swells and call-and-response solos that stretch twelve-bar forms into extended workouts. Vocals lean gospel and R&B; the groove is fat and patient, prizing tone and feel over speed, with peaks earned through slow-burn buildups.
History
Grew from the Allman Brothers' blues-jam lineage when Warren Haynes and Allen Woody launched Gov't Mule in 1994 as a power-trio side project. Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi extended the tradition, merging their bands in 2010 to form the Tedeschi Trucks Band, while North Mississippi Allstars carried a rawer hill-country strain into the festival circuit.
