Blues Boogie Rock hardens boogie and shuffle into rock-band weight while keeping blues riff logic front and center. The tempos are often brisk, the rhythm guitar blunt, and the whole enterprise is designed to make a simple pattern feel huge rather than subtle.
History
Once blues bands became louder and rock bands became more blues-literate, boogie inevitably moved across the aisle. Canned Heat were early specialists, while ZZ Top, George Thorogood, Johnny Winter, Foghat, and Status Quo each turned rolling blues figures into rock crowd fuel. The style was often dismissed as primitive by trend-watchers, which is usually how you know it worked on actual audiences.
