Big Room House

Big Room House is the house-beat version of the big-room festival sound, built around four-on-the-floor kicks, minimal bass movement, supersaw or brass-like synth hooks, and breakdowns that create a massive contrast before the drop. Compared with progressive house, it is less chord-rich and more percussive; compared with electro house, it usually has cleaner kick-lead spacing and a simpler hook. It is music for peak-hour staging: countdowns, confetti blasts, and crowd-visible DJ gestures are part of the aesthetic.
History
The style crystallized when Dutch house, electro house, and trance festival tactics converged in the early 2010s. Labels such as Spinnin' and Revealed helped standardize the sound, while producers like Hardwell, Showtek, Martin Garrix, Blasterjaxx, and W&W made it a dominant Beatport and festival category. The market overfilled with near-identical drops by 2014-2015, but big room house remains a clear historical marker of the EDM boom and a recurring source of nostalgia in modern festival sets.
