Bedroom rap is intimate, DIY, and close-mic'd, usually built from laptop production, soft trap or lo-fi drums, and vocals that sound recorded in private rather than performed for a room. Its emotional range runs from shy and sweet to bleak and dissociated.
History
The style grew through SoundCloud, TikTok, and low-cost home recording rather than traditional local scenes. Powfu, Guardin, Shinigami, Aries, and similar internet-native artists made private-scale acoustics and vulnerable writing into an aesthetic choice instead of a technical limitation.
