History

The style grew from the mid-2010s convergence of tech-house, bass house, Night Bass-style club music, and festival bass pressure. Chris Lake, AC Slater, Taiki Nulight, JOYRYDE, Habstrakt, Matroda, BIJOU, Malaa, Wax Motif, and Dr. Fresch blurred the boundary between house grooves and bass-music drops. Bass Tech House became especially effective in North American clubs because it delivered the force of bass music at a house tempo that DJs could mix into broader tech-house sets.
