Bass House is house music rebuilt with heavier bass design: snarling midrange riffs, short drops, garage-like swing, electro-house aggression, and low-end movement borrowed from dubstep, bassline, and U.K. garage. It is more muscular than future house and less maximal than brostep or big-room EDM. The best records keep house's 128-ish BPM club utility but make the drop feel like bass music, using growls, wobbles, vocal chops, and hard-edged synth punctuation.
History
Jauz's "Feel the Volume" became a key early signal, followed by Ephwurd, Valentino Khan, AC Slater, Joyryde, Moksi, Habstrakt, Ghastly, and Night Bass/Confession producers pushing the sound through festivals and clubs. Bass house absorbed electro house's energy after big-room fatigue, but it also drew heavily from U.K. bassline and garage. By 2017, OWSLA and festival DJs were treating bass house as a bridge between EDM crowds and more underground bass-club rhythms.
