Balearic Beat

History

Balearic Beat is tied to Ibiza DJs such as Alfredo Fiorito and José Padilla, whose eclectic sets at Amnesia and Café del Mar influenced UK acid-house travelers and later chillout culture. Records by A Man Called Adam, Sueño Latino, The KLF, The Orb, 808 State, Chicane, Primal Scream, William Orbit, Mark Barrott, and Cantoma became touchstones for different Balearic moods. The idea survives through Ibiza sunset sessions, reissue culture, nu-disco, chillout, and open-air festival sets.
