Bachata Pop

Dominican bachata's syncopated requinto-guitar arpeggios and bongo-and-guira groove dressed for pop radio: lush romantic tenor vocals, R&B and hip-hop-tinged production, and bilingual crossover hooks. Keeps bachata's heartbreak storytelling but polishes it into sleek, melodic, dance-friendly modern pop.
History
Modern bachata pop grew from Aventura's late-'90s/early-2000s fusion of traditional bachata with R&B and hip-hop ("Obsesion," 2002). Toby Love added urban-bachata flair, then Prince Royce and Romeo Santos carried it onto mainstream charts in the 2010s; 'Darte un Beso' and 'Propuesta Indecente' (both 2013) topped the Hot Latin Songs chart, cementing bachata as a romantic-pop crossover staple.
