History
Took shape via Frank Zappa's early genre-fracturing rock-jazz and the Rock in Opposition movement, rooted in Britain's Henry Cow (formed 1968). France's Magma invented its own 'Zeuhl' language, pairing Orff-like chant with churning jazz-rock. King Crimson's heavier mid-70s improvisation and the RIO network kept the avant-fusion impulse alive.
