History
Codified in Atlanta when T.I.'s Trap Muzik (2003) named the genre. Young Jeezy's Thug Motivation 101 (2005) with Shawty Redd and Gucci Mane's Trap House (2005) with Zaytoven set the blueprint; DJ Toomp's melodic, sample-driven beats and Shawty Redd's eerie minimalism defined the city's signature sound through the late 2000s.
