Ambient House
Located in 2 routes
Ambient House combines house or acid-house pulse with ambient music's long pads, samples, field recordings, dub delay, and drifting structure. It can still move at dance tempo, but the beat feels softened by clouds of texture and extended introspection. The sound is psychedelic, pastoral, and rave-adjacent: music for the chillout room that still remembers the dance floor.
History
Ambient House emerged from UK acid-house culture, Balearic DJ sets, Orbital-era rave, and the need for comedown rooms. The Orb, The KLF, The Future Sound of London, 808 State, The Irresistible Force, Mixmaster Morris, Ultramarine, Banco de Gaia, Global Communication, and early Leftfield helped define its open-ended, sample-rich language. Its influence spread into ambient techno, chillout compilations, psybient, vaporwave, and modern open-air festival downtempo.
