Aggrotech is the harsh, high-BPM, club-oriented branch of electro-industrial and dark electro. It uses distorted vocals, pounding kick drums, trance-like synth leads, horror/cyber imagery, and confrontational hooks that are built for industrial dance floors. Compared with classic EBM, it is more compressed, more theatrical, and more aggressive.

History

Aggrotech grew from 1990s dark electro, electro-industrial, harsh EBM, goth clubs, and European/Latin American dark electronic scenes. Suicide Commando, Hocico, Combichrist, Grendel, Agonoize, Tactical Sekt, God Module, Aesthetic Perfection, Centhron, Nachtmahr, and Psyclon Nine became core names as the sound crossed into cybergoth and festival circuits. The style's peak coincided with 2000s industrial dance floors, cyber fashion, and internet scene circulation.
