Afrobeats-Pop

The modern Lagos-Accra pop engine: lilting mid-tempo grooves over programmed kicks, shakers and talking-drum accents, with airy synths, clean guitar licks and breezy melodic vocals trading English and pidgin. Hooks are sticky and repetitive, the mood sunlit and romantic, built for both Afro-Nation crowds and Western radio.
History
The plural 'Afrobeats' was popularized in 2010s London to brand Nigerian and Ghanaian dance-pop. Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy carried it global; Wizkid and Tems' 2020 'Essence' became the first Afrobeats Hot 100 top-10, and Rema's 'Calm Down' (2022), boosted by a Selena Gomez remix, cemented worldwide pop crossover.
