Afro Tech

Afro Tech is the sleeker, darker and more synthetic side of Afro house, often using rolling percussion, minor-key synths, long builds, and a tighter DJ-tool structure. It keeps African rhythmic identity but aligns more strongly with melodic techno, tech-house, and festival-ready peak-time arrangement. Compared with Afro deep house, Afro tech is colder and more propulsive; compared with European melodic techno, it usually keeps more percussive movement and vocal or chant textures.
History
Afro tech developed as South African and diaspora producers brought Afro-house grooves into larger international techno and festival circuits. Black Coffee's global sets, Shimza's Kunye platform, Enoo Napa, Da Capo, Caiiro, Kususa, Lemon & Herb, Dlala Thukzin, and Zakes Bantwini all helped define a lane where Afro-house melody could hit with techno scale. The style is now a major bridge between African club music, Ibiza, melodic house, and global festival programming.
