History
Built from late-90s Lagos and Accra lyric scenes, Nigerian 'Naija rap' modified US hip-hop into local languages; M.I Abaga reshaped Nigerian rap's lyricism in the late 2000s. Ghana's Sarkodie took Twi rap global, and South Africa's late-2010s wave — Nasty C, Cassper Nyovest, AKA, Kwesta — gave the continent technical, chart-topping rap exports and fierce intercity rivalries.
