Afro-Fusion Dance is the broad pop-club space where Afrobeats, dancehall, highlife, R&B, house, amapiano, and local African rhythms are blended for international dance floors. It is less purist than Afro house and less region-specific than gqom or kuduro. The songs usually carry a strong vocal identity, but the rhythm section is built for movement, choreography, and DJ crossover. This tag is useful for records that travel globally while keeping African rhythmic grammar at the center.

History

Nigerian and Ghanaian pop, South African club production, UK diaspora scenes, and global dance producers all fed Afro-fusion's rise. Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, Davido, Fireboy DML, Major Lazer, Sarz, and Juls helped make African rhythms central to international pop and club playlists. The late-2010s and early-2020s global Afrobeats wave made the fusion normal: one song might move through dancehall bounce, R&B vocals, amapiano piano rolls, and house-friendly drums without needing a single narrow genre label.
