Grown-up, literate acoustic-leaning pop built for AAA (Triple-A) radio: thoughtful lyrics, organic instrumentation, restrained mid-tempo grooves and an adult sensibility that avoids teen-pop gloss. Sits between singer-songwriter intimacy and polished rock. Earnest, melodic and craftsman-like, it courts listeners who outgrew Top 40 but still want a hook.
History
The Triple-A radio format emerged in the early 1990s to serve adult listeners with album-oriented, lyric-driven music. The Lilith Fair tours (1997-1999) and artists like Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow and Shawn Colvin defined its commercial center; Brandi Carlile and Ray LaMontagne later extended the lane, keeping AAA a durable home for serious acoustic-rooted pop.
