Doom's leaden riffs drenched in acid-rock psychedelia: wah-soaked solos, phaser and flanger swirl, fuzzed-out lysergic jams that stretch past ten minutes, and bleary half-buried vocals. Tempos drag, the low end is enormous, and the trip is hallucinatory rather than gloomy — a slow-rolling, mind-melting dirge built for headphones and altered states.

History

Emerging from San Francisco's mid-1990s underground, Acid King fused heavy '70s proto-metal with slow lysergic drift on their 1995 debut, while Bongzilla and Weedeater pushed weed-soaked psychedelic heaviness. Drawing on Hawkwind's acid haze and Sabbath's weight, the style threaded doom's crawl through wah-drenched jams, becoming a Roadburn-festival mainstay.
