Debate over ideal concert pitch is centuries old, but "432 Hz music" emerged as an internet-driven movement around 2010, spread by online essays and videos claiming numerological and physiological benefits for the lower tuning; it drew on early-music and just-intonation arguments while attracting considerable pseudoscientific controversy. New Age pioneer Steven Halpern, long an advocate of non-standard tuning, issued 432 Hz versions of his entrainment albums, and a wave of YouTube meditation channels, Meditative Mind, PowerThoughts Meditation Club, Nu Meditation Music and Marco Allevi's Music for Body and Spirit among them, built vast catalogs of 432-tuned relaxation content. The practice remains popular across wellness streaming despite the absence of scientific support for its stronger claims.
